St. Andrews has a wonderful bonanical garden called the Kingsbrae garden.  It is considered one of the top 10 bontanical gardens in Canada.  It has lovely gardens but also a tree in a cage.  I thought this strange.  Do they think someone will steal it, or damage it?  According to the sign it is one of the worlds oldest trees. It comes from Australia and it is considered to be 200 million years old.  Not this one specifically of course, but the gene pool is pure and unchanged.

200 million year old tree – wollemia nobilis

The gardens included some nice sculptures and was quite full of color for a late summer visit.
